About CarbonGrade

INSTITUTIONAL OVERVIEW

CarbonGrade is an independent corporate carbon rating framework issuing annual A–E classifications at organizational level.
The framework evaluates corporate carbon performance and methodological robustness through a structured internal scoring model. Ratings are assigned for a defined reporting year and reflect both carbon intensity positioning and data integrity quality.
CarbonGrade functions exclusively as a classification authority. It does not provide consultancy or certification services.

PURPOSE

The purpose of CarbonGrade is to introduce structured differentiation in corporate carbon reporting.
As greenhouse gas disclosures become increasingly widespread, comparability and data robustness vary significantly. CarbonGrade addresses this gap by applying a defined evaluation methodology to submitted carbon inventories and supporting documentation.
The objective is clarity, comparability, and structured classification.

CarbonGrade ratings:

  • Are issued at organizational level
  • Are valid for a defined reporting year
  • Reflect carbon performance relative to sector positioning
  • Incorporate data transparency and methodological robustness
  • Are based on documented disclosures submitted by the rated organization

GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE

CarbonGrade operates under an internal rating methodology defined in the CarbonGrade Rating Framework. The framework establishes: Evaluation criteria, Scoring architecture, Interpretation thresholds, Classification rules. Methodology updates, when applicable, are documented and publicly referenced.

METHODOLOGICAL INTEGRITY

CarbonGrade ratings are issued under a predefined evaluation model and are not influenced by advisory, commercial, or advocacy considerations.

POSITIONING

CarbonGrade is positioned as an independent corporate carbon classification framework designed to support transparency in climate-related disclosures. It is not an advocacy platform, consultancy practice, or implementation body. Its function is evaluation and classification.

OPERATED BY

CarbonGrade is operated by GCERTI ROMANIA as an independent rating initiative. Operational separation is maintained between rating activities and any advisory services conducted outside the CarbonGrade framework.
